Each year, there is a "shop hop" of quilt stores in Minnesota. Mom has always wanted to do it. While, last year was her year. We did them all with careful planning to get us around the entire North Star state of Minnesota
It doesn't seem like a big thing to visit all the quilt shops in the hop, but many quilters and non-quilters alike would be wrong. It is a big deal and the chance to get registered for the BIG prize is only one reason why it's even attempted.
My mother wanted to visit all the shops in 2021. Like the rest of us she had been cooped up for over a year and she wanted out! We decided to rent an RV and hit the road.
We devoted plenty of time to each shop. We aren't those people who run in, get their stamp and then run back out. We wanted to explore all the fabrics we could take in! We shopped only at the stores who incurred the expense & committed to participate in the hop, which was a smart strategy because this itinerary took us over a week to complete. We still had MORE then enough selection for her to purchase enough fabric to last a year!
It was a great way for us to pick up fabrics for a patterns. Even then we bought more patterns and absolutely HAD to pick up more fabric. Ugly, viscous cycle but you all know how that goes!
We stayed primarily at Minnesota State Parks along the way. It was an incredible opportunity to visit parks all over the state. If you are into National Parks, love nature, or enjoying camping/RVing - staying in the state parks perfect!
Since the shops didn't open until mid to late morning, we could take our time at breakfast then hit the road. After the last shop of the day there was still plenty of light to get our home on wheels set up at the camp site and supper made.
This was such a fun trip. We got to see all the variety in the shops and all beautiful variety that is Minnesota.
This is a partial example. We customize the itinerary & driving directions based on you.
Some ideas to consider:
In addition to lodging. other services we can add are dining options along your route, RV or tent rentals and specialty stops (like large roadside attractions).
We have the map planned out according to the participating shops. We are willing to give everyone a big break on the price to customize the map for you based on your starting/end point. HOWEVER - We will not add non-participating shops to a regular planned shop hop. You would need to pay the standard service fees for that request.
